  Jennifer DeFelice - Owner/Director 

Jennifer DeFelice is the Owner and Creative Director of the Broadway Bound Performing Arts Center. She has studied tap, jazz, classical ballet, acting, voice and musical comedy for over 25 years and has been teaching for almost 20 years.

 

Jennifer initially trained at the nationally recognized dance studios of Virginia and Joseph Mazzello at the JG Dance Arts Center, in Hyde Park, New York. She has studied with a number of professional dance organizations and studied under Frank Hatchett at the Broadway Dance Centre in New York City. Jennifer holds an AAAI Aerobic Certification. She previously owned a dance studio in South Dakota.

 

Jennifer has won numerous competitive dance awards at dance competitions and conventions, including Dance Caravan, Dance Educators of America, Professional Dance Teachers Association, Tremaine, and On Stage America. She served a five year equity apprenticeship at the Hyde Park Festival Theatre in New York. Jennifer also  has a number of talent credits including State Talent Winner, Junior America, 1990 with a dance specialty, 1st Runner Up, Miss Teen of New York, 1987, Special Olympics Radiothon performance. She has also been a model for J. Walter Thompson Advertising.

 

Jennifer graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. She is the mother of three children. They reside in Merrimack. 

 

Jennifer's  parents, Rose and Gary Smith assist with the accounting and the website via the internet from their home in Florida. Gary, aka Poppy also helps maintain the studio. They are frequent visitors to Merrimack and generally spend their summers in NH.

Raegan Lopez - Performing Company Director      

Raegan S. Lopez is a December 1997 graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a Bachelors of Applied Science Degree. She has trained at Manhattan Motion in New York and studied with Angel Ortiz, Jacqueline Bird, Kokko, Doug Shankman and Gabrielle Taylor. She also studied with Frank Hatchett Sheila Barker, Richard Pierlon and Kat Wildish at the Broadway Dance Center in New York. Raegan’s introduction to dance came from the nationally  recognized dance studios of Virginia and Joseph Mazzello  at the JG Dance Arts Center, in Hyde Park, New York.

Professional credits for Raegan Lopez include Synergy Dance Company, New York for choreography performance and dance, Manhattan Motion, New York, with benefit dance performances and the JG Dance Arts Center, as both a choreographer and an instructor.

Raegan’s performance credits include the FD Roosevelt Theatre, New York with roles in A Chorus Line, Oklahoma and Grease where she also served as a choreographer. She also performed in Oklahoma at the Thomas Carvel Theatre, in New York. Her choreography and dance skills were also utilized in a number of charitable programs and benefits throughout the New York area.

Raegan has won numerous awards at national dance competitions such as Hoctor’s Dance Caravan, Professional Dance Teachers Association, On Stage America and Dance Educators of America. She and her husband reside with their two sons in Merrimack.

     Ashley Burgess -  Kidz Program Director

 

Ashley Burgess has been dancing for 17 years and has been a teacher for the past 4 years. She has studied with Broadway Bound and the at the Broadway Dance Center in New York. She has competed throughout New England and has won numerous dance scholarships. Ashley has been recognized for excellence in dance by the Professional Dance Teachers Association, the Dance Educators of America and Dancers, Inc.

 

A native of New Hampshire, Ashley has recently completed her studies at the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Early Childhood Development. She has joined the Broadway Bound staff full-time as the Kidz Program Director.

 Jennifer McCormack- Baton Director

 Competition Team Instructor

 

Jen’s background includes strong dance experience and over 15 years of baton twirling performance and competition in both solo and with teams. She has twirled as a member of the Burlington High School Majorettes and the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band Twirling Line and she has won numerous State and Regional awards as a competitive twirler in the following categories: Solo, X-Strut, Modeling, Basic Military March, Flag, Hoop, 2-baton, dance twirl team, and high school half time team.

 

In addition to teaching baton, Jen is a National Baton Twirling Association certified judge.

 

Jen assisted with the Baton program in the Spring of 2005 and officially joined Broadway Bound in the Fall of that year. Her teaching is influenced by commitment to the roots of baton twirling as well as the athletic aspects of twirling that have developed in recent years. From the majorette leading the marching band to the AAU and NBTA competition floor, twirling has had a positive influence on girls and boys through generations.  As a teacher at Broadway Bound, Jen aims to contribute to baton twirling as both a sport and a performing art by encouraging her students to enjoy and excel at it.

   Laura Duggan - Kidz Program Instructor

 

Laura has been dancing since she was 3 years old. A 2007 graduate of Merrimack High School  she has been a teacher for the past 4 years. She has studied with Broadway Bound and has competed throughout New England and has won a number of dance scholarships and awards. Laura is currently Captain of Hip Hop/Step Team Sisters In Step at UNH and is furthering her studies in ballet, jazz and theater at the university. She has performed in the   Palace Theater production of Annie and she has competed in a number of pageants throughout New England including Miss New Hampshire's Outstanding Teen.

 

A native of New Hampshire, Laura is attending classes at the University of New Hampshire where she is majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders and minoring in Dance. She has joined the Broadway Bound staff as an instructor in our Kidz Program.

    Rachel Barker - Ballet Instructor

Rachel is a classically trained ballet dancer in the RAD method (Royal Academy of Dance - London, England).  Since the age of three and through high school, Rachel intensively studied ballet and pointe as well as other forms of dance including jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre, lyrical and modern.  In college she spent three years on the nationally ranked Hofstra University Dance Team working with some of the best choreographers in the dance team world and placing 2nd in the nation at USA Nationals in 2010. 

A recent graduate, Rachel is thrilled to be back in the studio - this time passing on wisdom and technique to younger, aspiring dancers.  Rachel is also a former Miss New Hampshire 2007 and competed for the title of Miss America in 2008 (her talent being an en pointe ballet routine).  She is also an aspiring singer/actress and is in the process of obtaining her personal training certification.  Rachel believes in coaching her students to live a healthy lifestyle of discipline, good nutrition, exercise and a positive attitude.

  Shonna McGann - Tumbling and Cheer Instructor

Shonna McGann has been coaching tumbling and cheerleading for several years. She started coaching at Merrimack High School in 2004-2005 with the Junior Varsity team.  She instructed the JV team for 2 years prior to assuming her duties with the Varsity team in 2007.  Her first year coaching Varsity the team won the Division 1 State Championship for the first time in 12 years.  Last year Merrimack took 2nd place runners up in the New England Championship in the Coed division.  Shonna was recently recognized as the New Hampshire, High School Division 1 Coach of the Year.

Prior to assuming her duties at Broadway Bound and Merrimack High School Shonna was a coach and instructor at the Celebrity All Stars Gym.  Shonna is a graduate of New Hampshire Community Technical College with a degree in Human Services.
